VLBI Capability Returns to the VLA

Very Large Array

For the first time since the old Very Large Array (VLA) correlator was turned off in early 2010, it is now possible to include the phased VLA in Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) observations. On 2 February 2013, the VLBA and phased VLA began making scientific observations of distant black holes. Some of the upcoming observations will include the orbiting Russian RadioAstron VLBI antenna. Read more…
