University of Michigan 2017
NRAO and LBO will conduct a Community Day hosted by the University of Michigan on March 29, 2017 in advance of the ALMA Cycle 5 proposal deadline. The program is designed for about 30 participants.
Please register using the Registration link on the left. We accept participants in the order their registrations are received by us.
An important part of a Community Day are the hands-on sessions, including proposal preparation, observation preparation, and data reduction. Therefore, it is very important for participants to do the following well prior to the Community Day (it is very unlikely you will be able to install CASA and download data during the Community Day).
- To be able to prepare and submit ALMA/VLA/VLBA proposals, register at both the NRAO user database and the ALMA user database if you have not done so yet.
- Bring a laptop.
- Install the ALMA OT for Cycle 5.
- Download and install CASA 4.7.2.
- Download and un-tar the demo data we will be using during the hands-on data reduction and imaging tutorial. The name of the file is 3C391.tar. Firefox browser recommended to access the ftp site, alternatively follow the ftp instructions at go.nrao.edu/vla-we
