Pipelines

ALMA and the VLA rely on calibration and imaging pipelines to produce data products for users and archives, including the ALMA Quality Assurance process  and the VLA Sky Survey (VLASS). These pipelines use the CASA software, and includes pipeline-specific tasks and routines built on top of CASA. The ALMA and VLA pipelines are bundled with specific version of CASA, and typically released once a year.CASA Pipelines

The Pipeline Team strives to produce a single pipeline version that can be used by both ALMA and the VLA for data processing. Typically, ALMA and the VLA pipelines are different patch-releases with only minor differences.

ALMA Pipeline

Pipelines for the calibration and imaging of ALMA data can be downloaded on the ALMA webpages.

VLA Pipeline

Pipelines for the calibration and imaging of VLA data can be downloaded on the VLA pipeline webpages.

VLASS Pipeline

VLASS pipelines are based on the VLA pipeline, but sometimes the production schedule requires a separate VLASS pipeline version, which can be downloaded on the VLA pipeline webpages.

External CASA-based pipelines are also occasionally created by the community, such as the GMRT Interferometric Data Analysis Pipeline. Links to these external pipelines are found here.

Developer documentation for the pipeline can be found on Readthedocs, in the same format as CASA Docs. This documentation including a description of different ways to run the pipeline, pipeline recipes, and API overview, which includes descriptions of the pipeline tasks.

ALMA Pipeline: User's Guide and Reference Manual

Documentation for the ALMA Calibration and Imaging Pipelines can be downloaded from the ALMA pipeline webpages with each pipeline release. The ALMA Pipeline documentation consists of a User's Guide, which described how to obtain and use the pipeline for ALMA data, as well as a Reference Manual with descriptions of all the pipeline tasks.

The NSF National Radio Astronomy Observatory and NSF Green Bank Observatory are facilities of the U.S. National Science Foundation operated under cooperative agreement by Associated Universities, Inc.
