DPUC Membership
The DPUC consists of 10 members appointed for a period of 3-4 years, and includes representatives from the ALMA executives.
- Abhijeet Borkar (EU, 2022 - chair): Abhijeet Borkar is a research scientist at the Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, working at the Czech node of the European ALMA Regional Center. His research interests are studying the supermassive black holes at the centers of galaxies and their interaction with the host galaxy, particularly using radio interferometry techniques.
- Adam Leroy (NA, 2021): Adam Leroy is a Professor at Ohio State University. His research focuses on radio, millimeter, and infrared observations of galaxies and the interstellar medium using both spectral lines and continuum. He is a frequent user of both ALMA and the Very Large Array.
- Kristina Nyland (NA, 2022): Kristina is a staff radio astronomer in the Remote Sensing Division at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. She uses radio telescopes and multi-wavelength data to study galaxy evolution, and the role that energetic feedback from massive black holes plays in this process.
- Seokho Lee (EA, 2026): Seokho Lee is a staff scientist at Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI), the Korea node of the East Asian ALMA Regional Center (EA-ARC) in South Korea. His research focuses on ALMA observations toward low-mass star-forming regions.
- Toshiki Saito (EA, 2025): Toshiki is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University, Japan. He is an active researcher who is using ALMA to study gas and star formation in galaxies, and is a former member of EA-ARC.
- Kuo-Song Wang (NA, 2025): Kuo-Song is a staff member at the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ASIAA) in Taiwan, where he is manager of the ASIAA CASA Development Center (ACDC), project scientist for the CARTA visualization software, and an ALMA Support Scientist. His research focuses on observations of star-forming regions.
- Alex Akins (NA, 2025): Alex Akins is a research technologist in the Microwave Instrument Science group at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California. His research focuses on radio interferometric observations of the planets and their moons from meter- to millimeter-wavelengths.
- Tim Davis (EU, 2026): Tim Davis is a Reader at the school of Physics and Astronomy at Cardiff University. His research focuses on the molecular ISM in extragalactic environments, black holes, star-formation, kinematics and feedback. He has expertise especially around the reduction of ALMA long baseline data, imaging pipelines, and kinematic modelling.
- Eileen Meyer (NA, 2026): Eileen Meyer is a Professor at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Her research involves studying the growth of supermassive black holes and their effect on galaxy environments, with a focus on multi-wavelength observations of relativistic jets.
- Miriam Nyamai (EU, 2026): Miriam Nyamai is an astronomer and support scientist at the Joint Institute for VLBI ERIC (JIVE). Her research focuses on studying the transient radio sky, including stellar outburst and novae.
