ALMA Proposal Preparation Workshop at Universidad Diego Portales

NRAO Live! Event at the University of Wisconsin in Madison

Date: April 27, 2023
Time: 9:00am-5:00pm
Location: Sala de titulación, Instituto de Estudios Astrofísicos, Universidad Diego Portales

The National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO), ALMA Ambassadors, and the Millennium Nucleus YEMS cordially invite you to an ALMA Proposal Workshop at Universidad Diego Portales (Santiago, Chile). The goal of this workshop is to help participants prepare proposals for the upcoming ALMA Cycle 10 deadline (on May 10th). This event is designed for all astronomers, and in particular for those who do not regularly utilize radio data in their research. The one-day workshop will provide an overview of ALMA including new capabilities, a brief discussion of mm interferometry, and an overview of the proposal preparation and submission processes. In the afternoon there will be a hands-on session with the Observing Tool. Lunch will be provided for registered participants.

Registration is free, but we greatly appreciate it if you could sign up before April 12th so that we have an accurate count for lunches.

The evening of the workshop, we have planned a visit to the nearby planetarium of the Universidad de Santiago de Chile. The visit will include a movie session at the planetarium. This activity is also free of cost (courtesy of YEMS). Please indicate if you are interested in this activity in the registration form.

The workshop will be in-person only, but after the workshop we will put the recordings of the sessions online, accessible for everyone.

We look forward to seeing you at the UDP!
