Caltech 2018

NRAO Community Day at the GSFC

NRAO and LBO will conduct a two day Community Event hosted by the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and IPAC at Caltech on March 27 and 28, 2018.

Space is limited to 40 participants and registrations will be accepted on first come first serve bases; please contact the organizers for an invitation, if interested.

The registration is now closed. The deadline was March 12, 2018. If you wish to be placed on the waiting list, please contact Emmanuel Momjian (emomjian_at_nrao.edu).

An important part of a Community Day are the hands-on sessions, including observation preparation and data reduction. Therefore, it is very important for participants to do the following well prior to the Community Day (it is very unlikely you will be able to install CASA and download data during the Community Day).

  1. To be able to prepare and submit ALMA/VLA/VLBA proposals, register at both the NRAO user database and the ALMA user database if you have not done so yet. The former is also needed to prepare VLA observations (needed for the tutorial).
  2. Bring a laptop.
  3. Download the ALMA OT (The version for Cycle 6 will be available after March 20); requires Java 8.
  4. Download and install CASA 5.1.1.
  5. Download the ALMA data and the VLA data and files.
