Visas

As a standard part of the U.S. visa process, the U.S. State Department now requires that consular officers interview almost every applicant, and some consulates have a long wait for an interview. Also, many visa applications from China are sent to the State Department in Washington, DC to be reviewed by several government agencies. Because of the large number of visa applications and the current practice for thorough review, the process can be lengthy, so Workshop participants needing a visa should contact a U.S. consulate to schedule an interview as soon as possible.

Should Workshop participants receive indication that they may not receive their visas in time to travel to the U.S., it may be possible for us to intervene to expedite the process.  However, this will likely be most successful when the consulate receives the application at least three months in advance of the planned travel.

Additionally, if you do not currently have a U.S. visa, we will provide an official invitation to the workshop to use when applying for your visa. If so, please select "Yes" in the field marked "Do You Need a Letter of Invitation?" during online registration.
