Presenter Instructions
Please note the following information and guidelines for oral presentations for oral presentations:
- Please check the workshop program to see how long your presentation should be.
- To allow time for discussion after your presentation, please limit your presentation to 80% of the time shown.
- Please come forward with your computer (or flash drive) during the Q&A prior to your talk for set-up and a prompt transition between speakers.
- The projector is a standard VGA connector at 1024x768 resolution.
Please read the following information carefully and contact the LOC if you have any questions.
Presenters will be given a VGA connection to the auditorium's projector. An adapter will be provided for Mac mini-displayport connections.
Due to potential interference to the radio telescope operation, there is no WiFi in the NRAO site. Wired Internet access will be available at the podium, but we advise against live demonstrations from remote systems.
All speakers should test out their presentations as early as possible, but no later than before the session of their scheduled presentation
It is strongly advised that presenters have their presentation and all associated files on a USB flash drive for use in case their laptop malfunctions or is unable to connect to the projector for some reason. To insure compatibility PDF is recommended.
A PC running Windows will be available for presenters who chose not to use their own laptops. Presenters who wish to use the NRAO PC should provide their presentation file(s) on a USB flash drive to one of the NRAO support staff who will load it on to the machine during a session break. Speakers will have the opportunity to test their presentation on the PC at that time. All presentation files should be delivered to the support staff as early as possible but no later than before the session of their scheduled presentation.
Important Note
If you are using PowerPoint, please use the "Package for CD" function to create a folder with your presentation files which can then be copied to a flash drive and run on the house PC
