  • Parking passes will be assigned to drivers who have indicated a willingness to provide rides to others.

Location

The City of Charlottesville is located in west Central Virginia, approximately 100 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. and 70 miles northwest of Richmond, Virginia at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The meeting will be held at the NRAO Headquarters at 520 Edgemont Road on the grounds of the University of Virginia. Note: your GPS may try to route you through the University Grounds, where gates will block your progress. Please use these maps to travel from your hotel to NRAO.

We have arranged for discounted room blocks with several area hotels. Two of the hotels are within walking distance (1.2-1.4 miles) of NRAO. Attendees are encouraged to carpool; limited parking is available.

Transportation

  • Charlottesville is accessible via the Charlottesville Airport (CHO).  Washington Dulles and Richmond International Airports are within 100 miles each.  In addition, Amtrak runs daily trains from Washington, DC and New York City.
  • Public Transit planning and schedules can be found here.
  • Note that a Free Trolley (running between Downtown/Main St and UVA) stops within walking distance of NRAO HQ.
