The Cool Gas Reservoir Cycle of Galaxies
The cycle of gas into and out of galaxies governs their observable evolution. Both accretion of gas onto galaxies and expulsion of gas from galaxies are driven by a variety of processes, whose relative importance is still not well understood. In this talk, I will give an overview of my research aimed at understanding some of these processes, including studying the disk-halo interface of the Milky Way, the connection between star formation and the gaseous content of early-type galaxies, environmental impacts and consequences of gas in and around dwarf galaxies, and the search for extended HI disks as a source for missing baryons.
