The Evolutionary Map of the Universe

Abstract:

The Evolutionary Map of the Universe (EMU) is a large radio continuum survey designed to study galaxy formation and evolution over cosmic time.  Ranked one of the top two surveys for the Australian SKA Pathfinder (ASKAP), EMU aims to create a 3 pi steradian map of the southern sky at 1.3 GHz.  In this talk, I will review EMU’s key science goals and several of the activities underway to prepare for the survey. I will also present plans for pilot observations which will commence later this year.
