Getting There
Welcome to Morelia!
When heading to Morelia there are direct and indirect flights to the Francisco J. Mújica Airport (MLM), which is located approximately half an hour, by car/taxi, from Morelia’s downtown.
- If you are coming from the USA, several flights arrive directly to Morelia, such as those from Chicago IL, Los Angeles CA, Dallas TX, and others. According to the US. Department of State, U.S. government employees may travel to Morelia by air and by land from Mexico City using Federal Highways 43 or 48D from Federal Highway 15D.
- If you are coming from another location, e.g. Europe or Asia, it is highly recommended to arrive first in the United States and then fly directly to Morelia. Alternatively, if you first arrive at Cancun International Airport (CUN), there are many direct flights to Morelia from that location. Other cities with direct flights to Morelia are Tijuana (TIJ) and Monterrey (MTY).
If you still wish to arrive in Mexico City, we recommend flying to the primary international airport serving Mexico City: Benito Juárez International Airport (AICM). International flights to the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU), a new airport located 45km outside of Mexico City, are available as well. An affordable shuttle service (lasting 60 - 70 minutes) is available for transfers from Felipe Angeles to Benito Juarez airports and vice-versa. After getting to Mexico City, you can travel to Morelia by bus from Central del Norte (North bus station). We highly recommend using a car or taxi app or an authorized prepaid taxi located inside the airport to reach any bus station. The trip from Mexico City to Morelia by bus takes about 4 hours. The ETN bus line or Primera Plus bus line are the best options for this journey (It is possible to buy the tickets directly online).
