Low-frequency Pulsar Work Down Under

Abstract

The Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) is a low-frequency (80-300 MHz) radio telescope in Australia originally designed exclusively as an imaging instrument. Since there are several strong arguments for recording the high-time resolution voltage data from such an instrument we designed and integrated just such a system into the telescope. In this talk I'll describe the MWA Voltage Capture System (VCS) which I (and others) implemented while working at Curtin University as well as the motivations for doing so. I will then highlight a selection of the science we have been doing with the system including our pulsar survey currently underway.
